Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de los Muertos) is a Mexican holiday. The
holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and
remember friends and family members who have died. It is particularly
celebrated in Mexico, where it attains the quality of a National
The celebration takes place on
November 1st and 2nd, in connection with the Catholic holidays of All
Saints' Day (November 1) and All Souls' Day (November 2). Traditions
connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the
deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and
beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts.
In Western Christian theology, the
day commemorates all those who have attained the beatific vision in
Heaven. It is a national holiday in many historically Catholic
countries. In the Roman Catholic Church, the next day, All Souls' Day,
specifically commemorates the departed faithful who have not yet been
purified and reached heaven.
Catholics celebrate All Saints' Day
and All Souls' Day in the fundamental belief that there is a prayerful
spiritual communion between those in the state of grace who have died
and are either being purified in purgatory or are in heaven (the 'church
penitent' and the 'church triumphant', respectively), and the 'church
militant' who are the living.
So join me here to talk to your loved
ones gone. But don't go during the day. Join me at night, when it's
quiet and you can hear the drop of a pin, or the rattling of bones.
Don't worry if you see things you
weren't expecting to. It's all part of life or should I say past Life.
Of course you might see even more. look carefully at the following
photo. I took this within the last month at the entry to this Cemetery.
Do you see it ... on the right side waiting to pounce on any or all who enter.
OK If I have to point it out to you I
will. The Demon Dragon is what I'm talking about, He is on the wall
with his tail being to the center of photo and his body arched along the
wall. You can see his head and even his teeth, just waiting for a
fleshy bite. If not into your flesh then surely into your soul. Beware!
PS This photo was adjusted in contrast and brightness, but nothing was
removed or added. No photoshop! What you see is real, at least in my
If you dare enter the terror does not stop at the gate. Vision these poor souls waiting to be released from the grave.
Legion is their name.
But don't be worried if you see the following guys and gals. They're from Hollywood and not very dangerous.
As you roam the graveyard beware of
this door. In fact leave your keys at home as one might fit, and you
will be tempted to open this, and sorry if you do.
Let's not talk about what's inside. Just remember you are being watched. All the time.
Hopefully the moon will be close to full. It takes the fright away when you can see more clearly.
So join me in the cemetery to talk to
the past and loved ones from the past. Wear a cross or some sort of
amulet if you want to return cause you might see and hear and most
importantly feel things you were not expecting to.
